March 2015

March was my last full month of maternity leave and I tried to soak it all in.

Connor has never been a good co-sleeper. If he is upset at night he will cry and putting him in bed with us does not typically comfort him. He likes to be held. Cecil was better at getting him to sleep with snuggles than I was. This allowed us to have a couple later mornings than usual.

Marie texted me this picture of TG smiling and it made my day!!

I love when Connor would lay on me like this. Napping like this won't last long I know because he keeps getting longer and longer.

I love baby stretches

I attempted to take some 'sleeping' selfies. Apparently Connor could sleep, but I couldn't.

I guess I gave up and went to the couch to watch TV while he slept.

A couple times Connor fell asleep with his arm propping his neck up and it looked so silly to me. :) How could that be comfortable??

Baby smiles are the best. It took the right combination of Connor's good mood and us being hilarious. hahaha

We really started to get serious about tummy time and it was THE WORST. Connor hated it. It was so awful he would scream and scream, but I knew it was required for him to grow properly. Often I would have him do tummy time while I pumped, but it was painful for both of us.

More weekend morning snuggles. These were my favorites!!!!!!

Carlyn had THE CUTEST bridal shower at her new home. It was Great Gatsby themed and dressing up was encouraged. I've never been great at costumes so I was a slacker, but I have to say everything was super super cute and the bride was PRECIOUS! She is so fun!

Love these ladies!

We also had Dad's 61st birthday dinner that day. We just met at Macaroni grill with family, AG, the Powells and the Landes. Basically Dad's favorite people. I will try to start getting pictures of the birthday person and not just my child. hahaha

We took Connor to our favorite - Dixie House Café. We really feel like locals here. They know us and now know Connor. He's been back a few times already. :)

That famous tail again!

I'm starting to notice a theme with this background.

I wanted to do something special with Noah before I went back to work. I took him to see the SpongeBob movie and Connor actually did amazing. He slept and then when he woke up I just gave him a bottle and held him. Newborns really are pretty easy to haul around. I think we shared a brownie. Look at his mouth!! haha I'm glad we have this special memory. I think Noah really enjoyed it.

Another 'sleeping' selfie. I just wanted to capture the snuggles.

Silly picture

Russell and Marie had very generously bought us the fancy monitor that we registered for and then we realized that it was not compatible with our mattress. Womp. We finally returned it and Cecil's Dad purchased us this one (we were able to get lots of other goodies with the credit from the first one). Having a monitor was life changing. I loved being able to watch him. I would zoom in to see if his sweet eyes were closed. I think this was about the time I learned that I couldn't just hope for Connor to take a nap. I needed to PUT him to sleep, i.e. swaddle him, rock him, turn on the sound machine, turn off the lights, and put him in his crib.

I made a little progress on the house in March. I love these curtains that I got for the dining room. I still need to hem them.

Connor's first St Patricks Day called for another Tux.

I posted this picture on Facebook. It is still one of my very favorites, but you can really see how the top of his head is fuller on his right side. He has had this issue since birth. This was caused by how he was positioned in the womb.
Jenny texted me:
'Hey - love the picture on facebook.'
'Hey - I think you should look into a helmet.'
haha
I really am very thankful for her presence. Cecil and I really trust Doug and Jenny and appreciate their opinions and advice. It's nice to have an experienced Mom and RN in the family! So I made an appointment at Cranial Technologies for a consultation.

On 3/18, Connor rolled from his stomach to his back. We were proud of our strong boy, but this made tummy time more interesting.

Another attempt at me trying to sleep while Connor slept. I love how little he is here.

I ordered some prints for the front living room. I really wanted to get that room put together before I went back to work.

I saw this at Pottery Barn and it served as my inspiration. Six framed prints were $949.
 Framed Ikat Print, Eclectic

Mom and I shopped for fabric that would be pretty framed and I just couldn't find anything I liked. I searched and searched online and finally found something at Etsy.
The prints came in the mail and I was excited!! One was missing so the project was put on hold, but it was at least started!

During March we opened the package of diapers Angela (Aunt LaLa) had given us as part of my shower gift. She had written on the diapers and they really really brightened my day! I loved all the funny things she wrote on them. :) I forced myself not to read ahead so they would all be surprises and a couple I didn't use for awhile because they were so funny and made me smile every time I opened his diaper drawer! :)

Zay made this at school and it melted me! It says:
Dear Auntie and Knucklehead
I love you because you let me hold Connor
(heart) Zay

One weekend we had dinner with friends and Austin, Tammi and Zach joined us. We had planend on bowling after, and I had promised the boys they could play laser tag at Main Event. Well, Main Event was INSANE (hours of waiting to bowl) because it was spring break. We ended up at another bowling ally, but I know Zay was disappointed he didn't get to play laser tag. One day, I surprised them by picking them up from school and taking them to the Main Event in Grapevine.

Then we went to see Nana in Prosper for a quick visit.

Then, we headed to McKinney and the boys FINALLY got to meet Turner!!! Kids were not able to visit her in the NICU at Children's. She had just come home from the hospital and Grams was babysitting so that Russell and Marie could take her parents to dinner. Russell and Marie had just moved into their new house and I feel like their lives were finally starting to be "normal." I know having Turner home is just a miracle itself.

Noah was pouting about something. Who knows what.....

Grams and all her grandbabies! Maybe Noah was upset because he was the solo grandchild for 6 years!!! Then, in a 10 month period we added 3 new guys to the bunch.

This was Grams multitasking while I went to the restroom. All her 'new' babies.

At the end of the month Turner had her newborn pictures. Cecil and I gifted Russell and Marie with the pictures as their baby gift. I think they turned out great and might do a post just of them. She is just a beautiful baby! But I will say trying to get her and Connor asleep at the same time was very difficult. Connor was much more awake 2 months later than he was 1 week old.

I think he looks confused in this 'behind the scenes' picture. hahahaha

On night Tanya and Gage came over and we had dinner at Hibachi. It was so good to see them. They gave Connor the softest blanket ever. We miss living so close to them and treasure them because she was our matchmaker.

There were a few features that I want all of our kids to get from Cecil and eyelashes are on the TOP of that list. I was sad Connor didn't have very long ones, and then on 3/26 I noticed they had really come in. Yay!! Now, I really hope any girls we have get his amazing eyelashes.
I looved this swing from Michelle. It really served us well while Connor was a newborn.

On 3/30, Connor had his 2 month appointment and he wasn't really himself after those shots. I gave him some Tylenol and he came home and took a 4 hour nap!! That is unheard of!

When he woke up he kind of laughed for the first time.

I think you can really see him starting to chub up here. Leslie gave him this cute monkey outfit.

2 month picture. Look at those cheeks and belly!!

Same position (boppy in my seat on the couch), different day, different outfit. We didn't get out of the house much during this time.

At the end of the month we went to Grams house for a visit. Mom, Dad, and the boys cleaned out the back of the property while Connor and I sat in a camping chair and enjoyed the nice cool weather.

Zay NEVER stops. He is go-go-go until he is forced to go to bed and crashes. Noah winds down and wants to sit on the couch and cuddle and watch TV at the end of a long day. Zay is going 100 miles/hour all the time. I caught a rare site - him sleeping on the couch. He looks so angelic. I love this boy so much.

That's all folks!
