July 2015

July is just another miserably hot month here so we did a lot of staying inside.

Connor still loved being in his exersaucer. We called it 'the ocean.' because of the sealife toys on it. As in 'Does Connor want to play in the Ocean?' 'I'm going to hope in the shower so I'll just put him in the Ocean really quick.'

In Cecil's truck we have a mirror so that we can see him. Usually he is behind my seat in the truck, but for some reason he was in the middle this day. I love seeing his sweet tiny hand reaching up to play with his toys. Sometimes the small things just make my day.

We went to Hailey and Josh's house for a 4th of July party that was super cute and super fun. And I did not take a single picture. Boo.

Connor actually learned to sit up on the 4th of July - so he was about 5.5 months old.

That evening we went to Leslie's apartment to watch the 4th of July Fireworks. We laid out blankets and her neighbors came over. I wasn't sure how Connor would do because we had to keep him up WAY past his bedtime.

Look at this crew! The little neighbor boy (he is actually Zay's age) in the white tank top looked at Connor and asked me 'Why is he so white??!?'
hahahah
Just unlucky I guess, kid.

Riley was in town. Bunny ears never get old!

Before the fireworks started we hung out with our sweet Riley and rubbed our sleepy eyes.

I brought a few toys to entertain him, but mainly he loved watching all the kiddos run around like crazy people.

Poppiseed and Connor watching the Fireworks.

I tried getting an action shot of them watching together. I guess Leslie was thinking the same thing....

Look at these boys! All the heart eyes

We went to Pappasitos with Cecil's family for Tammi's birthday and Connor wore his I (heart) my CPA shirt. he was looking extra cute in his chucks from Auntie Leslie.

After dinner, we came back to our house and had cake. I guess Austin liked Connor's toys. This one we called 'The Forrest' As in 'Connor just rolled right out of the forrest.'

Connor and his Aunt T - the birthday girl!

I was still going strong pumping at work. This 9 ounces was typical for my morning pump. Connor was eating 12 -15 ounces at school (3 4oz or 5oz bottles).

I worked on a craft for Mom's surprise 60th birthday party. I love how this turned out, but definitelyy don't think I'll be making another one anytime soon. It took FOREVER. Well, maybe for Connor's one year old party. I'm not sure....

Connor never really would use his paci after he went to school in April so I think he was really sleepy here. I guess I had to snap a picture, but this was very very rare.

Connor being a cutie during his bath time.

Cecil would put Connor in his crib sometimes after a bath while he gathered the lotion, diaper, and PJs to dress him. We laughed really hard because we would put him on his back and he was immediately on his stomach - kicking and being very very busy.

I ordered a playmat for the living room to try to keep all baby things on. Connor had liked a couple of Jack's toys at Hailey's party so we got him a couple more things to play with - I guess I didn't realize he was ready yet. But he was! And he loves his toys!!

Look at these ballers.

Zay and I worked on another craft for Gram's 60th surprise birthday party.

We couldn't resist - we got Connor a couple tank top outfits from Sam's. Navy white stripe everything.

The Sunday after Mom's party we had everyone over to our house for Nelda's (Cecil's Mom) 60th birthday party. They are actually born the same year, one day apart. We thought it would be a great time to let Connor try his first food. Avacados!! He was interested, but not sure. And definitely messy.

I got this text when Zay lost his first tooth! What a big boy!!!

Connor and Cecil snuggled up for afternoon naps. These are the best! Look how chubby he looks here! :) These are the last few pictures I have of Connor in his helmet. It started to get too small and we were advised to take it off if it left red marks.

I had a two painful incidents during maternity leave. I'm not great on anatomy apparently because I thought it was stomach pain and convinced myself it was because I had taken prescription strength Ibuprofen on an empty stomach. Both times Cecil wasn't home and I didn't want to take a newborn to a doctor so I just waited it out and it would pass. Well, one Thursday night in July I had these pains again and I knew that I had not taken any ibuprofen so I had no idea what it could be. I left Cecil with Connor and went to an Emergency Urgent Care facility where they gave me an IV, did an ultrasound, and confirmed it was my gallbladder - that needed to come out. I was thankful to have answers, but it sure threw a kink in our schedule. Before having Connor I had only ever had tonsils and wisdom teeth removed. Two major surgeries in one year seemed like a lot.

It took awhile, but we found a surgeon that we trusted and schedule the surgery for the following Monday. Cecil stayed home from work with me Friday and Monday which was really sweet. Also, Mom came in town and went to surgery with us. It was really nice to have her there. I love 'having my Mommy' when I don't feel great and she chatted away with me at the hospital to keep my mind off of things. The doctor said I didn't have to wait at all to hold Connor and that I could nurse that evening after the meds wore off. What a blessing.
After surgery, we all went home and I slept most of the day while Connor was at school. I was more nauseous from the anesthesia than really in pain for the surgery. Mom stayed the night and the next morning I went into Connor's room and it was his 6 month birthday! We put him in his Parisian clothes Mom had gotten him during her Paris trip this Summer and he looked extra cute! Look at that big boy sitting up.
Tuesday Cecil took Connor to school and I rested. Then, Leslie needed me to watch the boys so they helped me get him from school. The doctor told me to not lift anything heavier than my baby so they were helpful in carrying his car seat and bag to the car for me.
When we got home I wasn't in much pain so I (slowly) made them lunch (popcorn, mac & cheese, and fruit - always the healthiest), unloaded the dishwasher, and did a little laundry. I think I probably pushed it that day and should have done more resting.

Leslie and the boys brought Connor a couple balloons for his 1/2 birthday and flowers for me. She is always so thoughtful and sweet.

These beauties were delivered to our house and I really think they are the prettiest flowers I have ever received. They were from work and really brightened my day!
Wednesday I headed back to work. I really thought that I would get more rest being up there than at home. I was moving slowly but wasn't really in much pain. I was continuing to take ibuprofen. I got a text from Connor's teacher that he was being extra fussy. She ended up calling and recommending I take him to the doctor so I scheduled an appointment and asked Leslie to meet me there because I still was unable to lift Connor's carseat.

He was a mess at the doctor's office playing with his sock and the paper on the table. I have decided that waiting on the doctor with a fussy baby is miserable. At Connor's first pedestrian's office we never had to wait. I almost think driving further to not wait is better. We will see how it goes in the future. The doctor said he seemed fine and we headed home and just snuggled. I think he was just teething. They said we could come back Friday for his 6 month appointment and he would be ok to get his shots.

At home he decided that he really liked his balloon. :)

On Friday Cecil and I met for lunch at Panera Bread before Connor's 6 month appointment. This was the first time I let him gnaw on bread. We watched him very closely.

Connor's measurements at six months were:
Height - 27.5 inches - 83%
Weight -  16 pound 13 ounces - 34%
Head circumference - 43.5 cm - 54%

I bought Connor a new onesie that said 'BEST BABY EVER' and we had to do a little photo shoot. :)

I say, If the onesie fits!

Connor rode in the buggy at school for the first time in July. They use this big thing to transport the bigger kids or just change the scenery at the end of the day I think. He was very proud of himself.

I was trying to clean out my car and took this little photo of Connor in the driver's seat.

Tiffany asked me to make a fabric garland for her nephew's baby shower. I also attempted to make a cute sign and I actually really liked how it turned out!

Tiffany was sweet enough to send me a picture of how they displayed the garland and sign at the shower.

They even put it up in his nursery, which of course made me super happy! Tiffany's sister wrote me the sweetest thank you note.

Cecil gave me a new mouse for work because my wrists had been hurting since my pregnancy. I was very skeptical at first, but actually love it now. It really improved my wrist pain and I like having the extra 'back' and 'forward' buttons on my mouse. However, the IT guy does not like using it when he has to fix something. lol

On Saturday Cecil let me sleep in and he and Connor went to pick up a gun he had won during a tournament a few months before. Doesn't he look thrilled?!? I wasn't very thrilled either.

We did our 6 month photo shoot on Connor's elephant chair.

People say Connor looks like Cecil and I do see it (esp the ears -haha) but I think he looks like me as a baby too. I made these side my sides to plead my case. Now my Aunt Babs only sees me in Connor. #yesssss

Saturday Michelle and the family stopped by and we got to see our favorites!

I love how Connor is staring at Aster Aster's juice in this photo. They are going to be best buddies. I just know it!

Michelle got this picture of our bearded husbands matching their babies. I love these guys!

Sunday Lauren and her girls came over to play. We had lots of fun and Emma loves to hold 'baby Connor.'

We bought some finger puppets for bath time and the packaging in included this hand. Cecil tried to scare Connor and me. I think Connor thought it was as funny as we did.  I love how he is smiling up at his Daddy in the second picture.

Another sleeping baby picture.

We went to Angel Fire at the end of July/beginning of August and had fun with family. You can see those posts here
Angel Fire I
Angel Fire II
Angel Fire III

I'll leave you with this scrunched nose cry face picture. His face reminds me of Noah when he cries big like this. I think he was crying because I told him it only gets hotter in August.
