Are you ready to go back to June? Me too!! I think the biggest thing that happened was Connor got his helmet. We started to get into a rhythm as a family and we braced ourselves for summer (aka stay inside season).
Connor's teacher sent me these two pictures.
We got a special accessory for Connor to wear. I was really nervous how he would handle it but it weighs 6 ounces and he really didn't mind that much. He has always disliked hats and it bothered him some when he would try to rub his eyes the first two nights, but other than that he was a trooper. I know it bothered me more than him! for sure!
I love getting pictures from his teacher during the day. Look at this happy baby!
Leslie took the boys and Connor to see Nana. It was actually her first time to 'babysit' him. So yes, for four months of his life he was either with Cecil, me, or school. Apparently he was very good and made Nana's day! :)
I love this picture.
After I got off work, we met at Pei Wei for a quick dinner. Connor was trying his hardest to chew on the center of the ring. It made me laugh really hard.
Speaking of our rhythm. Connor still was not sleeping great. But we decided to set a bedtime routine and it has stuck. I really think the consistency is good for Connor. Cecil gave him a bath every night while I cleaned his helmet with alcohol and set it by the fan to dry. Then, Cecil would lotion the sweet baby duck (or raccoon) up and dress him in his PJs. Then, I would feed him and put him to sleep in his dark room with the sound machine on. I tried to do a book at this time, but Connor wasn't having it. So we just nurse and I sing to him or play Dixie Chicks 'God Speed.'
I mean look at this cuteness! I love hearing Connor and Daddy laughing from the bathroom during bathtime.
We decided to get Connor's helmet wrapped and I found this place in Grand Prairie that would do a custom rap. I wanted something neutral so it wouldn't mess up his outfits. Ridiculous? Maybe.
We drove to Grand Prairie (waaaay south) and dropped his helmet off and went to grab some breakfast. I snapped one of my favorite pictures ever of Connor. Look at that sweet face.
Then, we went back and picked up the helmet. It was GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!! And not straight! I was so frustrated. She had said the wrap would be 'free but accepted donations' so when I picked it up I gave her $40. But because she didn't officially charge I felt like I couldn't complain. I was so disappointed I cried. Ridiculous? Yes.
It was something he had to wear all day every day for the next couple of months and I had my heart set on gray - well anything that looked like A&M. There wasn't really much I could do about it so I just had to get over it.
We had Turner over for our first slumber party.
Such a sweet girl - this was her first attempt at sleeping in our room before she threw up because I might have overfed her.
She got her clothes dirty so she is wearing one of Connor's onesies (she likes dogs more than we do so its fitting). Connor was tickled pink to have his first slumber party!!
She did sleep all night long in the 'play and rock' thing in our room and I was very very impressed with her sleeping skills! Here she is in Connor's sports swaddle. It's nice having babies that can share clothes, diapers, etc.
Jessica and Riley were in town and we snapped a quick picture. Sweet sweet babies. We need more girls in the family! Stat! #tanktopsforthewin
We had lunch with Russell and Marie and Connor and Turner had their first kids table experience
Connor loved on his Heart to Heart bear from Auntie while wearing his 'I heart Auntie' shirt.
I love putting Connor to sleep. We rock while he eats and then he passes out and its my favorite. I love how peaceful he is when he's asleep. I KNOW that I'm going to miss this FOR SURE.
He started being such a 'busy boy' in June. His feet were never still.
We went to Zay and Noah's Vacation Bible School Program at Connor's school and it was pretty cute.
Leslie tries so hard to make Connor laugh but every time he just stares at her like this. It is so frustrating to her but HILARIOUS to me.
After their program, we came home and Connor was all kinds of smiles for Mommy - sitting up like a big boy in the chair.
We had weekly helmet appointments for Connor. They would put on these stockings to smooth down his hair and assess how his head had changed shape.
Zay and Noah came over and we played Jenga - always a favorite.
I started working on a couple things for my friend Michelle's baby shower.
I was just testing out the dot garland I had sewed. I like how it turned out. Get ready to see this for any kind of party I host going forward.
Connor really started rolling around and getting where he wanted to be.
He still wasn't able to sit up on his own, but liked to either be on his tummy or sitting up in the bumbo or with someone. He really started to HATE being on his back - diaper changes were getting interesting.
Another peaceful 'milk drunk' face.
Cecil would let me sleep in on the weekends and get up with Connor and sometimes Connor would fall back asleep and take his morning nap on the couch with Daddy.
I got Connor dressed in his 'I heart Auntie' shirt and sent this pic to Tammi. I love that sneaky smile.
Connor started sleeping on the way home from school almost every day, which is good because he really doesn't nap much at school. And good because I prefer anything to him screaming & crying while I sit in traffic. That is miserable.
This is my view when I'm rocking Connor to sleep. I love his nursery - I'll do a post on it later.
Happy boy chewing on his duck lovie. I had hoped Connor would get attached to an item that would comfort him at night so we tried a couple different things and the only thing that has stuck are these two mini Saranoni blankets that he kind of grabs/picks at while he falls asleep. He takes one to bed with him and chews on it during the night for comfort. They are small enough that Cecil agreed to let me put them in the crib with him while he slept. This duck didn't really get much attention in the long run.
Snuggles with Mommy. These really are my favorite parts of the day.
One Friday Cecil's company had a family day at the Zoo. Cecil RSVPed for two adults, two knuckleheads, and one baby. hahaha He's good to Noah and Zay. We schedule Connor's helmet appointment for early Friday morning. Here we are waiting to see the technician.
They have various toys set up for kids and Noah and Zay were WAY to loud with all the little kid toys. Zay is taking Noah's order and serving him lunch here.
We finally got to see Connor's head mold and it made my day!!! These boys are loving on their 'cousin.'
When we finally got to the zoo we went and looked at Noah's favorite animal - the elephants. Then, we found our way over to the event tent. The set up was really cool and Noah and Zay immediately wanted their face painted. Noah requested a flash sign with blue and black. Zay got a fish and it was my favorite!!
They had games for the kids to play, lunch prepared for us, and even a DJ. The boys were wearing their "DJ drop the beat" shirts. Of course, they had to show the DJ and request Michael Jackson songs. It was MISERABLY hot!!! So so so hot!! Poor Connor was red and sweating and I just felt so bad for him in the helmet. He wore it as long as I could stand it and then we took it off. It was too hot to have skin touch skin so I just laid him on the table and let him practice holding his own bottle.
It is always fun to see Cecil's co-workers and families. I hear about the guys all the time and its nice to put a face (and family) with a name.
After lunch they did an animal show and Noah and Zay sat in the front to watch. The two ladies brought out a few different animals. A snake, alligator, opossum, and owl are the ones I remember. They said to make sure to not make any jerky movements towards the snake and Zay heard 'spray water from your water bottle on the snake.' that boy!!!!
We went to see Zay's favorite animal - the shark and then climbed the rock wall
Connor was passed out and miserably hot.
We took a picture with our favorite statue - the kangaroo for Ampa. We got a snowcone for everyone and then we headed out of there!! I just do not like Summer! And crowded hot places with animals are not my idea of fun. I know, I know. At least I was with my four best boys. And seeing them have fun is my favorite.
On our way to Van Alstyne we stopped at Home Depot for something. Cecil and Noah went inside and Zay, Connor and I stayed in the truck. There was a fire truck parked next to us. A couple firefighters were waiting on another one inside. I encouraged Zay to say Hi to them and see if they would show him around. They were beyond kind to him and Noah and Cecil joined him when they came out. I love when we have great experiences with first responders.
Noah and Zay got to look in the truck and all around it and see the equipment. Everyone shook hand and then we were on our way. Such nice guys! I know Zay and Noah felt very special.
The rest of the way to Van Alstyne, Noah, Connor, and I were in the backseat and Connor was soo tired and worn out he wasn't even crying or sleeping he was just zoned out and staring and Noah like this. Noah said it was starting to creep him out. hahahah.
