Fortunately, Dad's friend has a condo that is right next to their condo so we were able to use it for our trip. Connor and I headed over to Mom & Dad's condo on Friday morning and everyone felt bad for us. hahaha Apparently, since we keep our windows open at night everyone had heard Connor cry ALL NIGHT LONG. He was refusing to nurse and was not sleeping well. I was starting to freak out because I wasn't ready for him to wean himself so suddenly. Mom told me she wanted to keep him at night so that we could get some sleep. Which was so so very sweet. Leslie and Mom kept him in their room in the pack in play and Dad slept downstairs on the couch the rest of the time we were there. It was so generous of them to allow Cecil and me to have 3 nights of good sleep.
On Friday we celebrated Zay's half birthday (a little late) because his December 27th birthday can get lost in the shuffle. Zay wanted to fish and swim so that is what we did. Russell, Marie & Turner had to go into Taos to get some warmer clothing so they couldn't join us.
Connor and Turner had some great bonding time this weekend. Grams thought Connor was such a ham with the camera. She said when he would hear it he would look up. I think these pictures are a good example of that. :)
After some morning snuggles we headed out to the pond.
Right when we got to the pond, Connor had THE BIGGEST BLOWOUT I have ever seen. There was a complete wardrobe change. All hands were on deck while Cecil and I changed him on the tailgate.
It was the most beautiful day. We all love Angel Fire. There is so much to do there, but mostly I love the cool weather and beautiful backdrops on every activity. I felt like we could really just relax and breathe there. I hope this summer trip truly become an annual tradition.
Dad helped out Noah and Zay, while Austin and Cecil were on the other side of the deck getting set up.
The girls and Connor were in the middle of the deck doing what we do best - sitting and talking. Connor was still refusing to nurse so we were giving him a bottle. He really started using his feet to grab things on this trip which I think is just adorable. Also, see his little ball Grams is holding - he threw that in the pond. Bye bye toy!
Connor finally fell asleep in my lap and took a pretty good nap. We tried to lather him up in sunscreen, but unfortunately missed his left arm and he got a little burned. Luckily, it didn't seem to bother him one bit. But I don't think Cecil was very happy with me. oops.
Noah got a bite!! I love how he is a standing back in this picture. He was definitely a little bit afraid of the fish.
Cecil and Dad put the fish on a rope while the boys looked on.
Then it was time for Noah to pose with his first catch!
I don't think he will ever forget this!! What a special memory!
Meanwhile, back at the center of the deck Connor was posing with his Auntie in the Mickey onesie she got him on her 2014 Summer Vacation to Disney World and Shamu hat she got him on her 2015 Summer Vacation to Sea World. He's a lucky nephew.
Next, Cecil caught a fish.
Then, Austin caught a crawfish.
We all really wanted Zay to get a catch, but it just wasn't in the cards that day. The clouds really started to roll in so we packed up and headed to lunch.
When we got back in the truck Cecil told me he had such a great time, which made me unbelievably happy. Sometimes I forget how much he loves these activities that I think we're doing just for the kids.
After lunch, Leslie and the boys went swimming with Grams while the rest of us rested at the condo. I took a nap and researched Connor's refusal to nurse on my phone. Apparently he was on a 'nursing strike' and I should continue pumping and he would latch back on when we got home.
Leslie gave Zay his birthday surprise - a HUGE motorcycle piƱata. He loved it so much he really didn't want to bust it open so he just posed with it, pretended to work on it, and it's in their room at home now. She also gave him a tennis racket and balls, but I didn't get a picture. He was super excited!
Friday evening we hung out in the condo and enjoyed being together. Can we talk about Turner being an all-star sleeper?? She sleeps 12 straight hours every night! Color me jealous!
We had some delicious black bean enchiladas from Grams for dinner and then played a little trivia game I had created (and not used) for Dad's 60th birthday party last year. I completely expected one of our history buffs to win, but they should be embarrassed because Marie won the game!!
Birthday Boy
Time for cake. Austin and Zay made the blue velvet cake and then we all enjoyed it.
I think Zay enjoyed it the most! We just love this sweet boy and are so grateful he is part of our family. He livens up every day. I could celebrate him all the time.

Awww that is such a good idea to celebrate his birthday in the summer; I think I should do that too ;). Color me jealous too! A baby that sleeps is unheard of in our world! It looks so beautiful there- we are going to have to take the girls one year!!
