Last Day of Summer 2015

On Friday Leslie had to work so I had Noah and Zay for 'THE LAST DAY OF SUMMER.' I told them they could stay with me or go to the church school and they voted to stay with me. I debated about doing something big (Perot museum) or small (trampoline park), but in the end I just decided to run a couple errands because there were things I really needed to get done. I think they had fun and it was a good reminder that we don't always have to do something kid oriented for them to have fun.  We did start a craft together, but I enjoy that as much as they do. :)

Leslie dropped the boys off while Connor and I were still sleeping. I turned on a movie for them, told me they could wake me up when it was over, and went back to bed. We ended up having to wake Connor up about 9. Then we went out and started our day. First up, was Shipley's donuts. They boys call them 'Fresh Donuts' now because one time I must have said they were my favorite because they are so fresh. But seriously. They are the best donuts.

After donuts, we went to get the oil changed on the car. I thought it would be quick because it was on a weekday, but NO. They said the wait would be about 40 minutes (so I was counting down the minutes), but it was actually over an hour. The lobby was under construction so we waited in this portable building. Luckily they did have a kid table (at the end away from the AC). They boys were actually getting along. Noah built the towers and Zay knocked them down. It was pretty loud and I'm sure everyone thought I was crazy, but I figured they weren't hurting anyone. Probably annoying but not hurting. Noah wanted a picture with every single tower he built and Zay could barely wait to karate chop it down. Connor was pretty good for having to sit in my lap for that long because the place was filthy and I wouldn't let him touch anything! He finished his breakfast of applesauce and had some carrots also. But I will say we were all READY to get out of there.

Picture posing and karate chopping at the same time.

We were going to go to Target, but we saw Home Depot and decided to stop in after a Sonic run. Kids really do make everything so much slower. So I made an effort to not be in a hurry. I tried to keep in mind that it will take longer to get anything done, and that was OK because we had all day. Even stopping at Sonic, both Noah and Zay had to go to the bathroom, then Noah wanted to give the waitress the money, then Zay had to go get 'handitzer' from the bathroom. Just a new normal I'm going to need to get used to while I learn to run errands with a baby/kids.

At Home Depot, I let them pick out a paint sample color. Noah picked 'Pumpkin Patch' orange and Zay picked 'Bear Rug' brown. I told the sweet man working at the counter that it was their first time to watch paint be mixed and he had them come back behind the counter and watch it all. He even let them push the buttons. Seriously, I think it made their day. They got to see the different colors that make up their paint pick.

Connor wasn't too interested. He napped through most of Home Depot

On our way to the lumber to get wood for our project, they saw one of those set ups where you can test out the different electric drills. Well I thought they were all missing the piece that connects to the screw (no idea what its called) but Noah actually found one that worked and they both got to try it out. I was proud of Noah for knowing what to look for. Zay was ENTRANCED with the lumber he was saying 'I have NEVER been to this factory before.' and 'I'm not leaving. I work here now.' I told him it would be a great job while he was in college and promised him I would bring him for the kid's workshop sometime.

After Home Depot we went to Target and got just a couple things: cake mix, icing (they brought back rainbow chip!!!!!!!), nails, and baby food.

With the addition of baby food, Connor has really started having to 'push' and it makes me laugh everytime.

We got home, and the boys watched another movie while Connor napped and I cleaned up a bit. We made our cake. I had searched for Cecil's sander because our little 12X12 squares were rough on the sides. I told the boys we would have to wait until Cecil got home, but Zay said he knew where it was. I was like 'yeah right' but we went to the garage and he seriously found it. It was in the second bag he had me look in. He is just so smart. He has so much sense and is great at problem solving. So we all got to sand our squares and paint while Connor napped. Leslie came before we could finish our projects so they will have to come back, but this is a preview of mine. ;)

Oh! Friday was also Connor 7 month birthday! Look at that tummy!

I had such a fun day with the Noah and Zay and I am so excited for them to start their school years. I just know they are going to do great!! I love them both so much!
