We took Connor's One Year pictures with Jen. I can't believe he is already one! For some reason he was in a mood (most likely confused by what on earth we were doing) and he wouldn't smile. He wasn't upset - just not throwing around any smiles. This seems to be a theme - he was in a similar mood in his 9 month pictures and at our Christmas mini session.
Like before, we were able to choose six pictures that we have the rights to and then can order copies of the other ones from her site.
First Jen had a little Valentine session set up. I had actually brought his valentine shirt that says "Heart Breaker" in hopes that we might get one good enough for a Valentine's Card.
I love love love how this turned out. It looks like he is ready to doll out those free kisses.
We definitely chose this as one of our picks.
One more where you can read his shirt.
Next, I took this CONNOR banner that I had strung up using the letter pennants I got from Hobby Lobby for $1 each. #score.
Cecil insisted on us choosing this one as one of our six. I'm not in love with it because he isn't smiling but Cecil thought it was super cute because it looks like Connor is posing. I do love those little knuckle dimples on his hand.
This is my favorite from the whole session. I had seen a picture with a baby in boots at a restaurant back when we celebrated my Nana's 95th birthday and I took note. These are Cecil's boots that I gave him for his birthday the year we got married. He loves them and I love seeing Connor in his Daddy's shoes. Of course I love each and every dimple in that booty and his sweet profile. I was actually to his right and he was looking up at me. I couldn't believe that we got him to stand, but I'm not sure he could have bent his knees if he had wanted to.
Next we headed outside and got a few pictures outdoors. This is where it got more tricky. He WOULD NOT sit on that silly box. Or sit still in general. He just wanted to crawl towards us.
We chose this one as one of our downloads and I think its pretty cute, but I haven't figured out how to print it yet because its so long.
When we got the pictures I scrolled through and LOLed at this one. Look at those chins!
This is one we chose
While Jen was getting her camera ready I was sitting with Connor on this bench and let him play in the leaves. She told me that it was cute and to get out of the shot. It ended up being one of my favorites of the whole session - an actual smile!
Looking back now, I don't love the shirtless bow tie look and should have said something. But he was NOT HAVING this sign and would knock it down the second I put it back up.
After this we brought out the smash cake and this is the part I was most looking forward to. Connor does love sweets (because duh!) so I wasn't sure what he would think of the mess, but I thought he would be at least into it and interested - possibly happy. haha
Yeah right, Mom!
So first we put him a little far away from the cake so that we could get some pictures of him with the birthday banner I made in the background and the pretty cake set up front. Well - no. He was full charge ahead - go boy!
He tasted it a little
Then he was like ickk
And lost. it. I mean he LOST IT.
I had my heart set on a naked booty icing smothered pic so we tried. But it just got worse. Poor guy. Cake is just so awful.
I carefully carried him to the sink and cleaned him up before we got him redressed and we all headed home. Goodness! That was the most stressful session we have had and I think it's just because he is on the move more. He didn't understand what we were doing and definitely didn't understand he should stay still and smile.
And for fun, here are a few behind the scene pictures.
I love this bench and wish some of these would have turned out well.
And the cake
We loved our experience with Jen and highly recommend her to anyone in Fort Worth looking for a photographer. Her passion is newborn pictures and we will definitely use her for our next one (whenever we are blessed with another -- no announcement here).
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY! You keep us on our toes!
