On Saturday we had Connor's first birthday party. I had planned on doing a big party with lots of our friends, but after Christmas I decided I didn't have it in me. I'm trying to understand my limits better. So we ultimately went with a small family party.
To get ready for the party I made a few things that I wanted to share. First, I made a couple party hat banners out of pictures of some of his silliest faces. I put them around the house. I'm having a hard time taking these down. They are still up and I love looking at them. :)
At the front door we had my trusty chalkboard to welcome everyone
In the kitchen, I put up a banner of all the pictures of him on his elephant chair each month. In the middle I put his O.N.E. pictures from his one year session.
On the table in the kitchen we hand some balloons, a (big) rubber duckie and dot confetti.I wanted to keep this table clear for everyone to be able to eat at.
In the front room we had another balloon arrangement. We put Connor's presents and cards here on the dresser.
I'm realizing I went "banner overload" hahaha
I found these letter pennants at hobby lobby for $1 each. (Did I already blog about this?!?) I'm sure I will get plenty of use out of this $6 through the years.
Cecil promised me he would hang a big white mirror that I painted in November on my navy wall before the party (and also before Thanksgiving, but that is another story) so when he finally got back from Home Depot with parts (????) everyone was already at the party so I told him to forget about it. :(
So I just hung up my final banner without a mirror behind it. :( I know it only bothered me and was not a big deal. I'm so over it. #cantyoutell
All Connor's 1 gear waiting for him to wake up from his nap.
My favorite part of getting ready for the party was decorating this table. I took these pictures before we had the chick-fil-a nuggets (amen!) and Nana's chips and dip on the table, but I just loved using 'all things Connor' to set it up.
We bought cupcakes from Sam's, but I made his smash cake myself the night before and was happy with how it turned out. It wasn't complete without a -----you guessed it-----banner!
Here is one last shot of the table with all the food (minus ice cream that we got out later)
In the middle of the party, we moved outside for Connor to do his smash cake. I had Mom bring her antique high chair and strung up a banner (#8???) in the front.

Here is his high chair with his smash cake. Pretty Pretty cute.
That's all folks. I didn't really realize until I was writing this post that his birthday was banner themed. haha. Mama likes her banners. Well...that's ok!
We had the best time celebrating our little boy with our sweet families. I'm going to wrap up his birthday this week with a post of the party, but I wanted to share the décor first. :) #priorities

I love all of the banners! And you are so right, you will use them year after year after year!! So cute :)
