I started our January recap earlier this week and am going to continue on today.
I typically don't work on Fridays so Connor and I get to spend the whole day together. Friday we had scheduled to get his one year old pictures, but our photographer wasn't feeling well so we rescheduled to take them on Sunday.
Connor wore his I Love My Aunt shirt along with his ant farm pants. I just think it is too cute. :)
While I continued to work on a banner for Leslie's school, Connor decided he wanted to play with all the fringe I was putting to the side. Fine by me! As long as he doesn't eat it!!
These are pictures she recently sent me of the banner up in the Teacher's lounge.
First try using her measurements. lol
Final attempt after adding some length
Connor continued his messy streak at lunch. Since we started letting him feed himself more he is happier in the high chair for longer which means I can actually eat myself or clean up a little. #win
Friday night Cecil gave Connor a bath and a middle part (hahaha) and dressed him in his first set of Big Boy PJs that Pops had given him for Christmas. I couldn't believe how grown up he looked.
That evening, I finally got my act together and started putting away Christmas decorations.
Before going to bed, I snuck in Connor's room and took a picture of him sleeping. Sweet baby boy.
Saturday we ran a few errands including a trip to Sam's for some paper towels, allergy medicine, and fruit. #bulkpurchases
Connor was a much happier baby this time around.
Saturday evening Connor really started to like standing on his own. I'm sure it helped that we said "Yay Connor" and clapped for him every single time.
He would stand up beaming really proud of himself and them clap. It was pretty cute.
Sunday Cecil's Mom, Nana, came to visit us. We had lunch, then quickly put Connor down for a nap and prayed he would sleep well and be rested in time for pictures.
I ended up having to wake him up (not ideal) and we ran out the door to get his One Year Old pictures taken.
After pictures we came home and Leslie's godson Riley and his Mama came over to visit. Connor really loved playing with the big boys.
Monday we were home for MLK day and Connor and I hung out at home together. During his nap time I worked on some party decorations while watching Making a Murderer.
After his nap, Connor and I went over to Leslie's house to hang out with her and her friends that were visiting. Sweet Riley tried to hold baby Connor, but he just wanted to get down and play!
We were all still trying to figure out what taking only one nap looked like for Connor. Monday evening he just didn't not want to go to sleep. He usually is very ready to take a bottle and fall asleep while I rock him. This night he was just not having it. He really wanted down from the chair so I just sat him on the ground to see what he would do. I watched while he opened the door and then spent a good 5 minutes patiently pulling his blanket out after it had gotten caught under the door. I could tell he was looking for Cecil. He wanted to go play with his toys in the living room but he didn't want to go alone.
Since I had Monday off from work I was able to watch all ten episodes of Making Murderer after Cecil and Connor had gone to bed and during nap time in three days (Sunday - Tuesday). It was addicting and I loved it! While reading things about it online I found the following which cracked me up! Did you know the victim's brother (that everyone online hates apparently) works for the Packers? Interesting.
While watching Netfilx I worked on Party Projects and hung banners around the house.
Thursday morning I went to wake up our sweet birthday boy. We had the best morning together and evening with him at Texas Roadhouse. It was a happy first birthday.
I had to crop this because he was in HIS BIRTHDAY SUIT!! lol! But I thought he looked like such a sweet baby here. One year old! What a year!
We took his 12 month picture on the elephant.
For dinner we went to roadhouse with my sister and nephews and he had a little sprinkle smash cake.
Friday morning Connor and I got ready for his One Year doctor appointment. Here he is crawling away from me while holding his bottle in his mouth with his teeth. Sometimes it is not easy to dress a one year old.

We got to his Doctor's office and I got a picture of him in his Aunt Farm Outfit. I sent it to his beloved Aunt T and Auntie Leslie.
Aunt T told me that he looked cute and that it made her day - super duper sweet.
Leslie just texted back 'where are his shoes'
Thanks Les. Next time I'll only send it to Tammi.
At the doctor's office they took this cool new test showing that Connor has no signs of eye impairments....yet. Cecil and I both had to get glasses in our 20s.
Connor weighed in at 21.5 pounds. He is 75% height and 50% head circumference and weight.
The doctor did talk to us about brushing his teeth and then putting him to bed.
He told me that he thought it was OK that he wasn't walking yet, but should be walking by his 15 month appointment. He also gave us the OK to switch over to cows milk. Whoo Hoo!
Friday evening we worked on brushing Connor's teeth. He did NOT understand what we were doing, but he didn't mind. Now putting him to sleep without a bottle of milk was another thing. He's not such a fan of that. We need to get stricter about it.
After Connor and Cecil went to bed I made Connor's smash cake and finished getting the house ready for his party the next day.
Since Cecil had to go to work early on Connor's actual birthday we saved waking him up with a crib full of balloons for Saturday. He was confused and excited. He immediately just started throwing them around. The balloons were a big hit all morning!
When he wakes up he will NOT take his hand off his blanket and I love how you can see that in these pictures. PS - that is my Teddy Bear in his crib. He's not really interested in it, but I like to keep it in there. lol
Cecil and I got the house ready for his party while he played with the balloons. :)
We had the best time at his birthday party celebrating him and spending time with our family. You can see his party post here.
The day after Connor's party we had a hard time getting him to nap so Cecil laid on the floor with him while he drank his bottle and then he fell asleep right there! We will take it!!
Then he got up in my lap after almost two hours and wanted to sleep a little longer.
Cecil was the cutest Daddy in the world and made Connor a tent using the barstools, couch, and a giant red blanket. Connor was THRILLED to be in there and especially happy when Cecil got in with him. I was of course....watching playoff football during all of this.
That night Cecil continued to be the cutest Daddy in the world and read to Connor when he didn't want to go to sleep during bedtime. Connor has shown a lot more interest in books lately and likes to flip the pages now. Sometimes the wrong way - but that's OK.
I think this post is long enough so I'm going to make January a three month post - yikes!
