February 2016 - One

February was a fun month for our little family. Our biggest news was that Connor took his first steps. I still wouldn't call him 'a walker' as crawling is definitely his main mode of transportation (actually being carried is) but he does take 6-7 steps when we encourage him to and sometimes I catch him walking short distances on his own.

I have to be honest, we have had a few unusually tough mornings this month. There were two in particular that Connor's teeth were hurting him and HE. WAS. NOT. HAPPY. He didn't want to be held, he didn't want to be left alone. He was just crying/screaming and I couldn't fix it.

We had various balloons (and decorations) throughout our home from Connor's birthday party and he was obsessed with the balloons. He was too distracted to eat and just kept reaching for them and telling us "duh, duh" which is Connor's language for 'give that to me.'
I tied a couple to his chair so he could have them while he ate and he would just bat at them the entire time. He was a happy boy.

On Sunday I realized I had lost my wedding band. I looked and looked for it (usually in the mornings when I was in a hurry to get out the door), and was starting to stress thinking I might have thrown it away in a stack of junk mail and trash I gathered off my side table.

On Thursday I text Cecil a picture of my engagement ring without my wedding band telling him that I was seriously starting to freak out. I often wear my band without the engagement ring, but having my engagement ring on by itself felt weird and I didn't like it. I got home and the cleaning lady had found left me this note saying she had found it in our living room floor.
THANK. GOODNESS.
I cannot believe I hadn't seen it there. I was so relieved.
And very very thankful for Ms. Ana.

The first week of February was National Counselor Week. My sister and mom are both school counselors and Leslie suggested we send Mom flowers.
I finally got around to ordering them on Friday.
She sent us a sweet note saying it made her day and that her school had actually forgotten about Counselor week and that we had made up for it. :)
There is just something about receiving flowers at work that makes you feel special.

Saturday morning we got up relatively early and went to watch our nephew Austin play basketball in Benbrook. Connor wore his Bachelor outfit from Aunt T (with arrow and heart pants) in celebration of Valentine's Day
I took my favorite picture of these two. Don't they look sweet?!? He could totally pass as her son.
Do you see how he is smiling and reaching for something. Well....it was a basketball. After I actually gave it to him, he held onto that thing the rest of the game.

Granny was there too. :)

After the game was over we headed to my friend Lauren's house for her daughter's birthday party. Emma was turning four and she was excited about it!! :)
Connor got in his first bounce house and I'm not really sure what he thought about it.

Emma gives the best forced baby kisses.

I love this squished cheek picture.

Connor watched Emma jump around

Then Cecil got in to try to help Connor, but I think he is just not ready for the bounce house yet. Maybe in a few months.

We had lots of fun catching up with Lauren and her family/friends.
Cecil even found a party hat for Connor to wear. I think he must have bribed him with cake or something because Connor hates hats.

Connor also tried out the girls' scooter.

Cecil got a picture of the birthday girl showing us that she is FOUR years old - in her princess dress and heels, of course.

Sunday Connor took a nap with Cecil on the couch. Cecil was actually able to get up and use the restroom without waking him up. Success.

My cousin had given us a ball pit that her twins had used and I just knew Connor would love it. I wanted to save it for a special time and figured the Super Bowl would be a great time.
As expected, it was a huge success! He immediately climbed in it and was happy as ever.

Cecil propped it so that his chair led to one of the openings and he just threw balls in the chair and out of the chair for a long time.

I was able to watch the Super Bowl pre-game show and was happy to see my favorite player do a pre-game interview. Von Miller - he is an Aggie.
At the end of the interview he said 'Thanks and gig'em' and it made me grin.

Connor was actually tired early so we paused the game and put him to bed around 5:30/6:00 and then started the game a little late. We didn't really want to fast forward through the commercials so I avoided my phone and the internet the entire game.

We had planned on having a couple friends over to watch the game, but it didn't work out so Cecil and I had a date over queso and chili dogs; it was a nice Sunday evening.

The Super Bowl turned out exactly how I wanted.
Broncos Won.
Peyton got his fairytale ending.
Von Miller won the MVP.
It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

Monday morning came early for me and Connor was SO infatuated with his ball tent that he couldn't focus on eating or doing anything else after he saw it. After I finally got him dressed, he got a few minutes of play time in before we had to head out the door.
The next day I actually had to hide the ball tent in the front room so Connor would let me get ready.

While I was getting dressed Wednesday morning, I caught Connor kissing himself in the mirror. Swoon
He wouldn't do it again after I got my phone out to take a picture but he sure does LOVE looking at himself in the mirror.

Wednesday during lunch I rain to Target to get Valentine's goodies for the boys' school valentines and I got FRONT ROW PARKING. It's the little things. That evening after work I went over to Leslie's house and helped the boys assemble their Valentine's It was super fun.

After I got home Wednesday on 2/10/16 Connor took his FIRST STEPS. He took three steps and fell into my arms. Cecil was in the kitchen doing something but he saw it also! Later Connor took a few more steps towards Cecil. For some reason I COMPLETELY forgot to get a picture. ooops

Thursday morning Connor discovered that there was a whole world (or just our backyard) behind the curtains in our bedroom. He stood there for a long time just gazing.

Then showed me his biggest smile.

I'll be back later to wrap up the month of February. :)
