September continued to be a fun month filled with excitement. We made progress on Zay's adoption, celebrated Austin's birthday and visited the museum.
Connor has been able to sit up since June, but it took him awhile to learn to sit up on his own - to go from lying down to sitting up on his own. When we got back from Mexico he was sitting up in his crib and Cecil had to lower the mattress to make it safer for him. This made it more difficult to put him down without waking him up and made me sad because he wasn't such a baby anymore.
Wednesday I had off work for Yom Kippur and Dad, Leslie and I headed to the Dallas courthouse for a court date regarding Zay's case. I read one time that adoption is a miracle and a tragedy at the same time and I could not agree more. We saw just a peek at the tragedy side and I will never forget that day. Zay is such a blessing to our family and I never want to take that for granted. But he was a blessing to another family first and that part of his story is heartbreaking.
I'm proud of Leslie and the wonderful person she is. I'm sure I annoyed her taking a picture, but this was an important day and I wanted to document it somehow. The often unseen legal side of a Mom fighting for her son...
Back to a lighter note......Connor sitting up in his lowered crib.
We took Connor's 8 month picture and I think we had the best outtakes yet!
Leslie went out of town to visit a friend so the boys stayed with us for the weekend. I picked them up from school on Friday and they were super super excited to show me their new shoelaces.
After Cecil got home, we headed to Austin's volleyball game in Benbrook. He is the Team Captain and quite the star.
I just love these two pictures below of him. I think he looks so grown and handsome.
Here is the whole crew (minus Tammi taking the picture) (peek a boo Noah)
We went to cheesecake factory to celebrate Austin's birthday. This 6'4" teenager turned 14 this month!! He is such a great kid and I love watching him grow up. Connor definitely loves his Nana, Aunt T and cousin. I can tell his recognizes them and its super sweet.
Connor with Pops.
Saturday we didn't have any plans so I told Cecil we could do whatever he wanted. He told me he wanted to go to the museum with Austin so off we went. We didn't realize it was Free Day in the District. It was crowded, but not terrible so we weren't complaining about the free entrance.
We met Tammi, Zach, Austin, and Liam at the museum. We looked at dinosaur bones and then played in the water exhibit.
Connor dressed up like a construction worker and Zay told me to send this picture to his Mom.
Cecil was excited to show the boys the oil and gas exhibit. Noah 'worked' in the office and made a new friend.
Zay's favorite part was definitely the paper airplane part. We had actually already been flying paper airplanes at our house recently and he was determined to make his go the furthest.
I talked everyone into listening to the presentation about static and even volunteered Tammi when she asked for someone to come up with long hair. ooops. hahahah
She was a good sport though.
Then we headed upstairs to the cowboy exhibit. it was pretty crowded in this tiny room where you could ride on these fake cows and play a game. Well, Noah finally got a turn and Zay saw an opening so he jumped on it.
It took awhile for Zay to realize he was the only one riding a horse neck!! hahahahaha Looking back, I bet the one he was on was for children in wheelchairs. You most definitely were not supposed to sit on it. Look at this face when he realized Noah's was full size! hahaha This alone made the visit worth it for me.
After the museum we headed home and I gave the boys a surprise (cowboy boots). Zay was super excited. :)
We put Connor down and I loved this view of him snuggling his little blankie.
On Sunday Cecil taught the boys to do some balancing. I was impressed! I had no idea Cecil could do this!
Zay nailed it!
Noah kind of nailed it. lol
We ended the month the same way we started....with Connor being sick. This time it was an ear infection. We tried to get him to take his anti-biotic but he would throw up no matter how many different ways we tried. Suppositories are now our new best friends. :(
But I don't hate the snuggles.
